Music by Juniper Foam This work translates film stills into chalk pastel drawings—a medium that smudges easily yet fixes each image in place. The faces captured seem frozen mid-speech. Alongside these drawings are fragments of words and sentences from the same films, collaging them into narratives of political transformation, collective memory, and inherited history through my own perspective.

Through the accompanying video work, the cycle comes full circle: the drawings return to moving images. The music, composed by artist Juniper Foam, is made with samples from these films: including speech fragments, soundtracks and environmental sounds. It weaves through the images, drawing them into a constellation of snapshots that hovers between stillness and language.
